ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
This unique Indian herbal conference provides a platform for Botanists, agriculturists, forestry, horticulture, phytochemists, pharmacologists, nutritionists, pharmaceutical manufacturers and cultivators, Indian medicine practitioners, exporters, policy makers of government on rural health and Indian system of medicine, non government organizations working for tribal welfare and conservation of endangered species of forest flora and fauna and host of scientists and agencies working on herbal farming, biotechnology, preservation of endangered species and medicinal plants, to discuss and learn about all the important national breakthrough developments on the importance of Indian herbal wealth and their therapeutic importance.
The conference is organized by Cholayil group, the largest herbal soap and herbal products manufacturers in association with academic institututions, research organizations and R&D divisions of herbal medicine manufacturing units in India.
After the overwhelming success of the various conferences hosted by Cholayil group, this conference will focus on the preservation of India’s prestigious heritage of herbal medicines practiced by 5000 years old Indian system of Medicine. Over 11 invited talks will be delivered in the 4 plenary sessions. Oral and poster presentation of recent research studies, an exhibition of Medicinal plants and books are other important features of the conference. One day pre-conference workshop is arranged for young scientists to identify the medicinal plants scientifically, organic farming and organic pesticides, mass cultivation techniques, scientific identification of plants… all in live; at Cholayil medicinal plants and conservation park Velagapuram.
QUALITY AND SAFETY OF MEDICINAL PLANTS
According to a WHO report, over 80 per cent of the world population relies on traditional medicine largely plant-based for their primary healthcare needs, but the availability of the medicinal plants in its authentic form is becoming rare because of commercial exploitation and deforestation. Recent years have witnessed an increase in their use, but questions remain concerning their quality, safety and efficacy. So Identifying, Cultivating, harvesting, collecting, preserving and classification of plants correctly are there fore very important for the quality, efficacy and safety of products. |
