Background
Born on 19-12-1931 Dr.Valiparambil Padmanabhan Sidhan hails from the respected 'CHOLAYIL' family of Kerala well known for their practice of Ayurveda for genarations, Dr.V.K.Padmanabhan, father of Dr.V.P.Sidhan was a reputed Ayurvedic exponent belonging to Kerala Government's Medical Services. The family heritage and rich experience in watching and assisting his father in the treatment of his patients gave Dr.Sidhan an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Ayurveda system of Medicine. He was well groomed not only to identify the various Ayurvedic herbs and plants but also to prepare and properly administer the Ayurvedic formulations in various forms for the effective treatment of different ailments

His passion for Ayurveda was further kindled when he joined Kilpauk Medical College, Madras in 1957 for D.M. & S.course. He was deeply devoted to popularise the Ayurvedic system of Medicine as a cheaper, definite and effective alternate for several diseases.

He joined the Medical Services of Indian Railways in 1964 and during his 26 years of service in Railways as Medical Officer, he came across innumerable patients suffering from disease which can be cured effectively and economically by Ayurvedic treatment without much of side effects.

He launched in 1969 MEDIMIX AYURVEDIC BATH SOAP with eighteen powerful Ayurvedic herbal ingredients to fight and cure skin disorders and was greatly impressed by its success in helping the common man to maintain a healthy skin at affordable cost. Today MEDIMIX AYURVEDIC BATH SOAP stands out as the number one Ayurvedic bath soap in India and has created great demands from abroad as well, due to its effective medicinal qualities.

Started with a capital of mere Rs.500 way back in 1969, today 'CHOLAYIL' Group has registered a turnover of more than Rs.200 crores. Medimix Ayurvedic bath soap has not only become India's no.1 Ayurvedic Soap, but reached 9th leading brand position among all Bath Soaps today. It also bring exported to the Media East, South East Asia and a few European Countries.

This success and his continued research in Ayurvedic Drugs enabled him to formulate more than 25 Ayurvedic formulations for various common diseases. Considering the practical difficulties in the traditional methods of carrying, storing and application of Ayurvedic Medicines, Dr.Sidhan ventured to produce them in the capsule, tablet and syrup forms to facilitate better usage.

His busy routine in the ever growing business and Pharma Research activities did not obliterate the human values in him nor did it make him forget his obligation to serve the society at large. He is an active member of Lions Club of Madras Egmore, involved in the runnning of the Lions Blood Bank and Research Foundation as its Patron member, running of EGLEAP (Egmore Lions Leprosy Eradication Action Programme). He supports a number of poor students to persue higher studies.One who has travelled around the world, Dr.Sidhan during the past few years, has taken it up on himself the noble task of reviving the traditional martial art forms like Kalaripayattu,Silambattam etc by organising State / National level championships.

Though started only with Medimix Ayurvedic bath soap , over the year 'CHOLAYIL' has grown into Multi product Group thanks to the hard work and visionmory zeal of Dr.Sidhan who has been ably assisted by his son Mr.V.S.Pradeep and son-in-law Dr.A.V.Anoop. Today , the group can boast of soaps,cosmetics, ready-mix food products in the basket. Truely, this 'CHOLAYIL' empire was built brick by brick through the untiring efforts of Dr.V.P.Sidhan
